Daily Journal July 25- Techniques in Porcelain Painting #2

This tray was a donation for a drawing Porcelain Painters of Texas State Convention
This is my first application, so to speak, on my oval tile. You notice it is quite light right now but I have just blocked in the local colors, using cool colors and warm colors against each other. I have left my lights, so later I can come back and use washes of color over them. This medium lends itself to washes that look very transparent over each other. The border will be a medium value with some sort of a design, (not sure yet) so I just left it. The background will be light with some shadow shapes. This is the main of my design and can break down the larger shapes in the next painting.
The box is painted very loosely, without any detail. Blocked in the color of the borders.
The sides are painted as well.
Tonight I will fire these in my small kiln at about an 015 cone.
I am going to practice painting some roses now, then paint on my oil of the beach people. It is calling me!
