Birds in Wisteria-porcelain tile- work in progress

Porcelain Tile - work in progress
Porcelain Tile - work in progress

This is the watercolor study I finished a couple of months ago.  I did want to reproduce it in oil or porcelain.  I have decided to do it in porcelain and I am sharing the progression with you.

This is a pair of White Throated Sparrows.  As most of you know, I love to do birds and these are no exception, I have enjoyed the whole process..

This is the second application (second firing).  I have not done any pen work in a long time, so this is first application was the black pen work, then it was fired in the kiln, so that I could add the first wash of color.  Then I put it in the kiln and fired again......

This is the third firing.  I have added more color and added just a small amount of background behind the flower and up to the top.  Shaded the birds underside.   I shall put it in the kiln and fire again.  Not in a big hurry, because I like to layer the colors like in watercolors.
