Progression of Daylillies on tile

This is a 8" x 10" porcelain tile.

Last year I lead a class on painting Day Lillies and birds for a group.   I started this tile but never finished, so I picked it up the other day and have added pieces to it each firing.

Now normally I do not work this way....  I usually try to have my idea (composition) all in order, drawn and worked out on paper before I start.  (much easier that way).  On this tile I had painted only the two flower at the top (for the sake of contruction) to show the class.

It was fired, so when I picked it up I added all the under side stems, buds and the one faded flower in the background.  I did have several attemps and finally settled on this.  Now, the color yellow is not my favorite, but I was liking these.  LOTS OF YELLOW!

    This is the second fire.

So what am I going to do with the remainder of the tile!   Alot of thought was put into it and several attemps were made again with different smaller flowers of various colors. This is alot of work!  How was I going to place the other flowers?  what spaces was I going to leave in the negative spaces.?  what colors were they?  would I put leaves in the background?  finally settled on pink larkspars ( I think that is the way they are spelled).  I have them every year in my gardens and I love them.   so they are painted in and fired.

    This is my third fire.

I did shade the underside of the flowers and the spent flower with some pinks and dark rose.

Now will have to decide if I am adding leaves or "whatever "  to the background.   So many decisions!

Any suggestions?
